Solar Activity, the cause of all global warming.

The graph above shows the global temperature anomaly since 1979 (blue) and CO2 levels (fuchsia). There is no correlation between CO2 levels and temperatures. There are very strong historic correlations between solar activity and temperatures. Right now our sun is experiencing very mild solar activity, so expect cooler temperatures! The sun image shows current sun spot activity, it is a near real time NASA image (SOHO MDI Latest Image). Click here for an enlarged view from NASA.GOV.

My last post was mainly meant for the Anon who asked what I did for a living but I have a few more facts to share. Our current grid loses roughly 30% of generated electricity in transmission. Off-grid solutions like Bloom Box eliminates that waste too. Americans hopefully will not be stupid enough to get involved in cap and trade as this would be the same as putting trillions of dollars in a big pile and lighting it on fire. James Hansen has already sent Barack Obama a letter outlining why cap and trade won't lower CO2 output and that is probably why Obama has provided such lackluster support for cap and trade. Analysis of the “large economy” Kyoto members demonstrated the ineffectiveness of cap and trade to reduce CO2. Only one country France with nuclear power has been effective in reducing CO2. Why would we want to send money overseas in some cap and trade scam when we could invest that money in free market solutions here, that will actually work to provide clean cheap energy?

WCK
02 Sep : 09:13
I am an inventor and entrepreneur. I am confident that free market capitalism and the American entrepreneurial spirit will provide cheap clean energy. Here's one example.

Average US home = 11,040 kWh/year in electricity = 6.3 tons/year of CO2 for coal powered energy.

Bloom Industries is planning to introduce a 2x3x3 foot sized off-grid unit for about $3,000 that can generate the same 11,040 kWh/year while emitting less than .01 tons/year using NG or Bio gas. Companies like Bay, Google, Fed Ex and Walt Mart already have the $700,000/box commercial sized version. Bay will recoup the cost of their 5 Bloom Boxes within 20 years and factoring in depreciation will cut energy costs by $4 million in that 20 years. It is much more reliable and cheaper than solar or wind and it won't kill birds or need all the water that is needed to keep solar panels clean.

When I was a kid I lived in New Orleans "early 60's" I survived bigger hurricanes then Katrina. Poor upkeep of the levees are not the cause of "AGW"

Why don't you go help the flood victims... You do know that they are attacking non- Moslems for helping them so bring an M-16.

And after you man up and find your D&B's, do like the scarecrow and find a brain.

Again, you seem to think the weather events during your life time are some how worse than the past weather... Are you some how special or deserve special punishment?
Or do you think the weather is out to get you because of the sins of your ancestors?

pot smoker. it is physics. warmer temperatures carry more moister.

but it's o.k. I know you don't understand physics.

this year has been full of events. (aka evidence) 1 percent rise is a big deal.

man up?? tell that to the survivors of Katrina, or the survivors of the Pakistan floods.

why don't you man up and travel there to help the flood victims out?

maybe then you'd get a taste of the real world effects that are actually occurring. 1% is a huge deal when talking in terms of global events.

Hey wck. what studies have you done? what do you do for a living? how many blog posts by idiots to you read instead of reading scientific literature?

Anon - again you claim that the above is " your point". This is now the third time I've caught you plagerizing the "Skeptical Science" blog. I consider that to be enough emperical evidence that you are a lying dirtbag troll presenting the words of others as your own.

I would appreciate it if you could please identify yourself as "plagerizing dirtbag troll" in the future? Thanks in advance.

Anon: There's is no evidence that warmer world wide weather causes more intense hurricanes flooding or wild fires. we are talking on average less then 1 degree rise in 100 years.
A 1 degree average lowering of world wide temperature could be said to have these effects. You act like the weather we have is some how worse then our great grandfathers, or something. Man up boy, you're a wimp.

really? floods and droughts have been with us for all time? i did not know that. thank you for informing me of that. I wasn't smart enough to figure that out.

Now, back to my point:

There is growing empirical evidence that warming temperatures cause more intense hurricanes, heavier rainfalls and flooding, increased conditions for wildfires and dangerous heat waves.

Anonymous
31 Aug : 16:39
so how about some balance to your record perth temperature:

Global warming is a reality already with us. The 1990s were the warmest decade on record, about 0.6 of a degree celcius (°C) warmer than 100 years ago. Australia has warmed by 0.7 °C between 1910 – 1999, with most of this increase occurring since 1950 (CSIRO, 2001).

the average for all of Australia is higher, regardless of your one record cold temperature in Perth.

31 Aug : 13:05
Anon: The great lake temps are all suspect in accuracy at this point or do you only watch CNN? Floods and droughts have been with us for all time the propaganda used to say they are record anything is also suspect. Since accurate records are suspect for most of this because they've been gathering this stuff for only a few hundred years and the gathering process have evolved and changed during that time.
Climactically or geologically who's to say what's what or who's on first?

WCK

Oops I forgot about Perth weather.

Here is Lake Superior as monitored by MSU. When you check/click on the map for temperatures you get this warning:

NOTICE (8/11/2010) Due to degradation of a satellite sensor used by this mapping product, some images have exhibited extreme high and low surface temperatures. Please disregard these images as anomalies. Future images will not include data from the degraded satellite and images caused by the faulty satellite sensor will be/have been removed from the image archive.

I really can't refute data that is admittedly unreliable due to sensor degradation possibly for as long as ten years. I'm not a miracle worker.

Quote to Consider
"The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific technological elite."

No. James Hansen would never manipulate data

Yes. This is way too important to trust one man or office.

U.N. Plans To Cut Western Countries Down To Size
Admin, Sunday 29 March 2009 - 21:20:04 // comment: 45 //     printer friendly   //     Font Size - Increase / Decrease / Reset

Cut us down to what "size" and what does this have to do with Global Warming? The UN is about to propose sweeping international changes that will redistribute the wealth from Western countries to poorer one's. By December 2009 the United Nations hopes to have massive new taxes imposed on all industrial countries as well as moving major segments of industry from the rich countries to the poorer one's. All in the name of "fixing" global warming.

The really depressing news is that we have just the right idiots in just the right place (DC) at just the right moment in history to accomplish this most ignorant of schemes. The Obama and His Leftwing Revue are swallowing this hoax hook line and sinker and will turn our country over to the UN, we lose and not a shot fired. I wonder what the UN will name the ex-USA?

What we need, is to start an Anti-Environmentalist party. People need to wake up to the socialist carnage which these Enviro-Nazis have planned for this once - great nation. They are bringing it to its knees with economy and industry - killing laws and regulations disguised as measures to 'protect the environment'. Most of them do none of the sort, but create trouble and heartache for honest, hard - working Americans and Canadians.

It sucks, and its time we did something about it.

I agree somewhere in the midst of this fanatical religious type zealotry real science and research has been put to the side and forgotten about. I wish there was a means of bring it to the forefront once again. Al Gore and David Suzuki have managed to make themselves the environmental Messiahs. I do not say that we do not need to steward our environment resposibly but the key word is responsibly.
My favourite example of the zealot is the Atlantic Cod fishery. The enviro wacos got that shut down blaming the fishermen. The real cause was the enviro wacos when they managed to get the seal hunt shut down. These seals each in a day destroy as many if not more of the cod then a troller. They swim in take a bite and then leave the remainder of the fish to die.

I am no more anti-enviroment than you are. A truly anti-enviroment stance implies that you wish to polute rivers, oceans, and streams. It its unfortunate that the "Enviromental movement" is mearly a cover for a neo-socialist view. Combat lies with truth and live your life. Don't fall prey to a tit-for-tat mentality. "anti-enviroment" is a bad name for what we stand for.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson
The Progressive movement has been in our government from the start . Our founders knew this and spoke out in the hope that common sense would prevail.
The progressive movement has finely found their war; a bloodless battle field on which to conduct their struggle for world dominance. The environment serves their purpose perfectly. Woodrow Wilson suggested its possibility years before.
Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness.
George Washington

I just hope that this isnt the beginning of the end for our way of life.
Two weeks ago my 8 year old son asked me what it was like when rome burned. I told him he might get to see it first hand.

Has anyone here ever considered actually opening up an economics book? Increasing the cost of energy will drive down the use of energy, thus reducing our total consumption and thereby increasing the delicate balance between what we produce and what we consume. Simple Economics are such: spend more than you make, go broke. Right now, the "richest" nations are on the wrong side of this equation. You really think our leaders have such a conscience to want to help poor countries?

Here's a new conspiracy theory for you to chew on: the government has created the "hoax" of global warming so they can make us richer, not poorer. Think. Good God, you're all so bent out of shape over the 1940's "red scare" that you've lost the ability to use logic.

To the commenter about reading an economics book, I am directing my question to you, as I believe you have some down to earth, common sense.
Why does this group believe that the treaty will transfer wealth from us to poor countries? I'm totally lost.
Thanks for your time.

You can have my money when you pry it from my cold, dead hands. And making me dead is going to be harder than anyone planned on. You (in general) may think I am joking. Thanks to being laid off and going flat broke, I have nothing in my bank account. So, I have been cashing my check at the bank that it is written from and hold onto the cash, buying money orders to pay bills. It's hard for someone to seize my funds if they are in my wallet. Trust me on that.

But Obama and his ilk are bound and determined to make the economy fail. Why? Because imposing these taxes will cause more lay-offs in the power industry while driving the cost of said power beyond many budgets, creating a cessation of the energy market. And people will starve and die or resort to petty warfare against neighbors to survive. How do you collect taxes on nothing?

Global Warming Myth is a ploy to raise taxes and for the US to join in the march to Global Socialism. I think my site tells a good story and invite you to visit.

Wtf? American fought the Revolution to get rid of redicilous taxes! As i always say, either we fight a second Revolution NOW or prepare for a third world war with nuclear arms. I hate when people say peace can solve it. Listen people, yes I do believe in peace. But WE'RE BEING ATTACKED! That's when we must defend ourselves. The Global Warming Conspiracy isn't our only worries.

But I'm not talking only to Americans I'm talking to Canadians and just about any countries citizens. The people truly do have the power. This is proven in All the many Revolutions in the past 2000 years. Just that those stupid power hungry tyrannt get into the powers of the countries and screw everything up.

'A man who gives his librities for security will recieve niether.'
~Banjamin Franklin

There's a song I hear by a band Muse called Knight of Cydonia and it has a saying in it "Fools can be kings" which at our situation is true. And everytime we do get a good leader they get assassinated like JFK and Abraham Lincoln. I hate idiots who just take everything their poloticians say to them...

I just think mankind needs a complete overhaul. I end my case...

I see some of my thoughts expressed so well by others. Such as the father who's 8 year old son asked what the burning of Rome was like and the answer was, you may get to see it, in person. An appropos answer, well timed.

Or the fact that we are having a second american revolution for the same reason as the first one, taxation without representation. Even the protestors themselves call it tea parties, in honor of the Boston Tea Party. Many a state, including mine (Texas), has refused the fed bail-out money. We will not be owing to Obama or China. And our governor, Rick Perry, has started a petition to do away with the cap and trade scheme. Texas is an energy state. Most of the boomtown growth of Dallas and Houston is from energy companies basing themselves here. We aim to keep it that way. Texas leads most states, if not the world, in our use of all kinds of energy. Home-grown celebrity Willie Nelson was the first to start using bio-diesel with soy and his tour bus runs on it. We have large wind farms and solar farms. But we also have the real estate to deal with it and more importantly, we have the money to invest in research because we run on cheap oil.

This could go a couple of ways. I see Obama taking over control and not in a good way. And I see the balkanization of the USA. Areas of the country declaring separate sovereignty. Texas is the only state that was once its own country (the Lone Star Republic.) And it might be so, again. 20 years ago, there was a group of secessionists that wanted Texas to separate from the Union and they were laughed down. Now, no one is laughing.

The second american revolution is underway, in the form of protests at town hall meetings, letters and emails to congressmen. For the first time since the founding of this country, maybe, the elected officials actually fear for their jobs. We the people still have the right to vote. Obama hasn't taken that away, yet. And we can vote our reps and senators out of office and they know it very well, now. And even as the democrats and parts of the media try to marginalize the protest, it would do them well to remember that during the general election, slightly less than half of the population that voted, voted for McCain. If you get all the people voting now, including some ticked off democrats, what do you think could happen? The only way you can stop that is remove the right to vote. And if you remove the right to vote, it will spark the bloody part of the revolution.

You can only step on a free man for so long until he/she has had enough.

the real debate is the western countries paying
for lesser developed ones to continue their uncontrolled overpopulation. China intends to continue
to find ways to feed their people, as does India.
Why is this good for western countries?
To continue cheap labour and move pollution away from the western world. The western nations will never
provide the under developed countries with the latest
energy technologies, just $ which in the end is worthless.
The carbon myth is a great way to assist with the above ideal.

How in the world did we get to this dark hour? How does a nation fall so far from its roots to arive here? Do you imagine that Obama would be elected in the first hundred years of this nation? I am not refering to the color of his skin, but rather the color of his policies. What has changed? We have! The changes have happened gradualy, and we the people are to blame. The liberals have invaded our Colleges and Universities. All the while, the fathers have been working hard..."for the family". Set a good example for your kids they said. Work hard (long hours) and you'll be ok. Then send your kids to college (to be brainwashed). In my view it is the fathers job to educate the children. Yes my kids go to school. But I have spent conciderable amout of time teaching them about the nature of truth, and how to avoid brainwashing. I wish more would do the same.
